Sensory Friendly Programs

PDSC strives to be an inclusive and accessible space that celebrates neurodiversity and welcomes people of all needs and abilities. We now offer monthly Sensory Friendly Times and Sensory Kits to better support children, teens and young adults with disabilities, on the autism spectrum, and/or sensory sensitivities. Pre-registration is required for Sensory Friendly Times. Click here to register

Sensory Friendly Times

1st Wednesday of the Month

4:00-6:00p

9/6, 10/4, 11/1, 12/6

Sensory Friendly Times are for children and caregivers who would benefit from a quieter, calmer experience. No proof of qualification will be required.

 

What to Expect:

  • Limited attendance

  • Sound and light reduction

  • Sensory kits available to borrow

  • Dedicated quiet zone areas

  • Regular admission rates apply

  • Free for PDSC members and Museums for All Participants

  • Pre-registration required

  • Children must be accompanied by an engaged adult

Sensory Kits

During any visit, Sensory Kits and noise-cancelling headphones are available to check out free of charge. Ask at the front desk.

 

Quiet Cove

The Quiet Cove room is also a good place for families to enjoy a few minutes of quieter exploration or down-time.

 

Outdoor Sensory Swing

. Need some fresh air? As weather allows, we keep a sensory pod swing up along the natue loop during open hours. Help youself!

These initiatives are new in fall 2023 and supported in part by funding from the United Way of Whitman County.
